There is a very select band of people who are the owners of special sprayed edge editions of Imogen Imagine, as pictured. Only ten of these books were produced, mostly for the donors who made top-tier contributions to the Crowdfunder to get the song Imogen Imagine recorded. I’ve held off sharing photos until all ten books were in the hands of the rightful owners – I wanted them to see it first when they received the book, not as a photo – but now I can let everyone else in on it.

The notes featured in the design represent the melody line of the song’s chorus, and Hannah Kingsley of Kingdom Book Designs has done a fabulous job in producing something truly beautiful. Hannah is also an author herself – do check out her Soul Hate trilogy, the final part of which, Soul Fate, has just been published. I don’t generally read much Romantasy, but the conceit behind Soul Hate was so good that I decided to give it a go and I enjoyed it so much I’ve carried on for the rest of the series.

But back to my book, and in particular the limited edition sprayed edge copies. I should thank Olly Hopper-Pay for writing the music in the first place, as well as being MVP for recording the song and my sounding board as I worked up ideas for the sprayed edge design with Hannah. Helen Martin helped us to get the notation right, transcribing it from the final recorded version of the song – it goes without saying that I was clueless on that one. Olly and Hannah, together with myself, the book’s dedicatees Naomi and Hannah Gadsby, and the generous Crowdfunder donors make up the select club who get to look at Hannah K’s beautiful creation on their bookshelves. Maybe the ten of us should form a secret club with a secret handshake or such, so that we can recognise one another whenever our paths cross. Or maybe that’s just me being silly, and we should simply enjoy looking at the books.
